The goal of the lecture is to explain and/or to revise basic physical principles and physical terminology, connected with atoms and nuclei, their structure and properties, which will be used in the subsequent lectures concerning the subject Medical Biophysics and related subjects, using knowledge of the microworld. This concerns, for example, molecules, electromagnetic spectrum, electromagnetic methods in medicine, methods of microscopy, non-ionising and ionising radiation (light, infrared, and ultraviolet radiation, x-rays, gamma-rays), imaging methods in medicine, and others.
