Incidence of toxocarosis in Slovakia 1977-1990 showed an exponential increase with an accessory cycling, having 7-8 years period length.
The latter should, however, be questioned due to the short period of observation. Extrapolation of the trend towards the end of the century arrives at seemingly absurd estimates of the order up to hundreds thousands, with 58 000 as the lower tolerance limit. This might, however,be not far from the truth if the high ELISA positivity rates in apparently heatlthy population as well as subclinical forms of the disease would be taken into account.
